Naples, Fla. (September 19, 2014) – “We can’t sell what’s not there,” was a phrase repeated among several brokers as they analyzed a recent report tracking August home sales activity released by the Naples Area Board of REALTORS® (NABOR®), which tracks home listings and sales within Collier County (excluding Marco Island). Overall inventory dropped 20 percent in the $300,000 and below price category in August 2014 compared to August 2013. The median price in this price category rose 13 percent as a result. The pending and closed sales dropped double digits in the same price segment August 2014 compared to August 2013, factors that illustrate the economic law of supply and demand. Read full report.
I wanted this to be a funny, satirical piece as a follow up to my previous column (Part 1, Sept. 4), but as I was writing it, I realized that my predictions for the future air travel experience aren’t funny at all — at least not based on today’s standard practices. Here’s what I see on the horizon: There will be no booking allowed on third-party websites (as we have already seen from one major carrier). When we were kids growing up in Connecticut, we used to giggle at TV cartoons that depicted swarms of termites buzzing through a home and leaving only dust in their wake. Sometimes they’d buzz through a whole town, and Acme Termite Control would be overwhelmed.
Termites always came in the form of armies, destroyed whatever they found in seconds and were unstoppable. At least these were the impressions we took away from those Saturday morning cartoons. Read full article.
Nothing can compare to the unconditional love of an animal, especially after a day at work.
Coming home to my dog and two cats affirms that everything is right in the world. After all, nobody else in my life, except perhaps my wonderful husband, is always, day in and day out, wildly thrilled to see me.
When I come in the door, they nearly jump out of their skins to greet me. Well, the dog does, anyway. Cats are too sophisticated for such histrionics. But I know they’re happy to see me as well from how they snuggle up to me on the couch.
Pets know your mood, can read it, can empathize, cheer you up, get you on your feet to get some exercise, make you laugh, feel loved, needed and wanted. Read the full article.
